This urban regeneration project – winner of the 2020 Reinventing Cities competition – will create the first carbon-negative settlement in Milan, featuring 1,200 apartments, a 600-bed student residence, commercial activities, local services and higher-education centres hosting up to 4,500 students.
While construction progresses, the Ex Macello has already become a lively place again: temporary-use programs have turned it into a cultural and social hub with exhibitions, festivals, concerts, and research initiatives.
